Have you ever wondered where some of the music in your piano books originally came from?

The John Thompson piano books include many melodies drawn from operas and other larger classical works. During this special pop-up event, we’ll step beyond the piano arrangement and explore Mozart’s famous opera, Don Giovanni.

We’ll discover the story and characters behind the music, listen to selections from the opera, and connect what we hear to the pieces piano students encounter in their books. Knowing the world surrounding a piece can make it much more meaningful—and much more fun to play!
